How do you handle the summer end-of-term turnaround?
When a cohort leaves, every room and flat needs an end-of-tenancy deep clean before the next intake - often hundreds of rooms in a few weeks. We mobilise a scaled team to hit the void programme: full room deep cleans, kitchens, bathrooms, windows and communal areas, working room-by-room to a checklist so blocks are re-let-ready on schedule.

Student communal kitchens and common rooms take heavy, sometimes hard, use. A regular scheduled clean keeps cluster-flat kitchens, shared bathrooms and corridors hygienic and keeps fire-escape routes clear - and gives operators a documented standard to point to in response to resident complaints.

Cleaning student homes means entering occupied residential space, so vetting and reliability matter. Every OptusGlean operative is directly employed on PAYE and vetted before their first shift. We DBS-check operatives in England and Wales, and apply the equivalent PVG (Disclosure Scotland) and AccessNI checks in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Where a site involves regulated activity with children or vulnerable adults, an Enhanced DBS (currently £49.50, gov.uk) is used. We never sub-contract to unvetted labour. We provide consistent operatives, agreed access and a named account manager for the site or estate.
Fixed pricing for operators and universities
OptusGlean prices every contract as a single fixed monthly fee paid by Direct Debit - never an hourly rate that drifts. The fee is built from the specification agreed at your free site survey, and it already accounts for the wage floor (National Living Wage £12.71/hr from April 2026, or the real Living Wage of £13.45 UK / £14.80 London where a contract requires it), employer’s NI, holiday pay, supervision, consumables, insurance and management. VAT is added at the standard 20%. Term-time cleaning runs on a fixed monthly fee; the summer turnaround is priced against the agreed room programme. Operators with schemes in several cities get one nationwide agreement.
