Battery plant and solar farm cleaning covers two distinct new-economy assets: dust and particulate housekeeping inside EV battery (gigafactory) manufacturing, and panel cleaning for utility-scale, ground-mount solar farms — this is a different job to cleaning panels bolted to an existing building roof, which our gutter and solar panel cleaning service already covers. Both are relatively new asset classes in the UK with limited existing cleaning provision to match their scale.
Battery gigafactory cleaning
Lithium-ion battery manufacturing generates fine particulate and, at some process stages, combustible dust and metal powders. As with any site handling combustible dust, the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR) apply, and housekeeping — controlling dust accumulation on floors, plant and overhead surfaces — is a named part of managing that risk rather than a purely cosmetic task. Clean-room or clean-adjacent process areas, high-bay racking and warehousing for cell and module storage, and general factory floor and facility cleaning sit alongside the dust-control work on a typical site.
Utility-scale solar farm cleaning
Ground-mount solar farms differ from rooftop arrays in scale and access: rows of panels across open land, reached by vehicle rather than roof access, and affected by different soiling sources — agricultural dust, bird activity, pollen and, near unsurfaced access tracks, mud splash. Cleaning is typically specified by the site operator or asset manager as part of an operations and maintenance programme, with frequency set by local soiling conditions rather than a fixed national interval.
How this differs from our rooftop solar service
Building-mounted solar — panels fixed to an existing commercial or industrial roof — is covered by our gutter and solar panel cleaning service, which combines roof access with panel cleaning. Utility-scale ground-mount farms are a different access problem entirely: no roof, no gutters, but rows of ground- or frame-mounted panels across a large site.
