Factory cleaning keeps manufacturing environments safe, compliant and productive, from production floors to high-level plant. Optus Glean UK cleans factories and plants nationwide, working around production schedules, controlling substances under COSHH, and using DBS-checked (Disclosure Scotland / AccessNI in Scotland and Northern Ireland), PAYE-employed operatives.
What factory cleaning covers
Factory cleaning spans production and process floors, machinery surrounds and access areas, high-level steel, ductwork and lighting, welfare and canteen facilities, and periodic shutdown deep cleans. It is a specialist line under our industrial cleaning pillar, alongside warehouse cleaning, and is detailed for buyers on the factory cleaning industry page.
COSHH and process-area hazards
Factories bring oils, coolants, process residues and heavier cleaning chemicals, all governed by the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002, which require the hazards and risks of every substance to be assessed and controlled. A safety data sheet is an input to a risk assessment, not the assessment itself. We apply documented COSHH procedures and chemical assessments, and where food or ingredients are handled we align with the standards on our food processing cleaning page.
High-level structures and ventilation
Dust and residue on high steel, ductwork and lighting are a housekeeping and fire-load concern, so factory contracts frequently include high-level cleaning planned under the Work at Height Regulations 2005, and ductwork and ventilation cleaning to keep extract and supply air hygienic. Each task carries a method statement and risk assessment.
Cleaning around production
Production lines cannot simply stop for cleaning, so work is scheduled into changeovers, quieter shifts and planned shutdowns. Directly-employed teams make that dependable: every operative is PAYE-employed on guaranteed hours, inducted to your line and lock-out rules, and background-checked (DBS, or Disclosure Scotland / AccessNI) before their first shift, with lone-working managed under our lone-working procedures and every task governed by a method statement.
One national contract for manufacturers
Manufacturers with multiple plants gain from one provider, one standard and one invoice rather than a different local cleaner per site. Optus Glean UK covers the industrial and manufacturing sector nationwide within a single commercial cleaning agreement.
