Funeral homes need cleaning delivered with dignity and discretion. Chapels of rest and viewing rooms must be immaculate and calm for grieving families, arrangement offices and reception welcoming, and preparation areas cleaned to a clinical, hygienic standard. OptusGlean provides quiet, respectful, DBS-checked teams working out of hours on one fixed monthly contract.

What does cleaning a funeral home involve?

The premises combine sensitive family-facing spaces and technical areas. Cleaning covers chapels of rest and viewing rooms, arrangement and reception areas, offices, washrooms, and preparation rooms that require a clinical hygiene standard. Everything must be presented calmly and immaculately for families visiting at one of the hardest times of their lives.

Why do funeral premises need discreet, dignified cleaning?

Families are present and grieving, so cleaning must never be intrusive, noisy or clumsy. We assign quiet, respectful, consistent operatives who understand the setting, work around service times, and treat the environment with care. Discretion and sensitivity are part of the specification, not an afterthought.

Hygiene standards in preparation and clinical areas

Preparation areas require a clinical-grade clean with proper disinfection and correct handling of cleaning chemicals under COSHH (an SDS informs, but is not itself, a risk assessment - HSE). We use colour-coded equipment (BICSc) to segregate clinical, washroom and general areas, and follow infection-control good practice throughout.

Out-of-hours cleaning around services and viewings

We schedule cleaning around chapel bookings, viewings and services - typically early morning or evening - so family-facing spaces are always ready and never disturbed. Key-holding and access arrangements are agreed with the funeral director. Every OptusGlean operative is directly employed on PAYE and vetted before their first shift. We DBS-check operatives in England and Wales, and apply the equivalent PVG (Disclosure Scotland) and AccessNI checks in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Where a site involves regulated activity with children or vulnerable adults, an Enhanced DBS (currently £49.50, gov.uk) is used. We never sub-contract to unvetted labour.

Fixed monthly pricing for independents and groups

OptusGlean prices every contract as a single fixed monthly fee paid by Direct Debit - never an hourly rate that drifts. The fee is built from the specification agreed at your free site survey, and it already accounts for the wage floor (National Living Wage £12.71/hr from April 2026, or the real Living Wage of £13.45 UK / £14.80 London where a contract requires it), employer’s NI, holiday pay, supervision, consumables, insurance and management. VAT is added at the standard 20%. Funeral groups running several branches get one nationwide agreement with the same dignified standard at every home.
