Salons and spas are close-contact, hygiene-sensitive environments: treatment rooms, wet areas, mirrors and reflective surfaces, and constant hair and product debris. Clients notice everything, and infection control matters around skin, nails and water. OptusGlean cleans treatment rooms, wet zones and front-of-house to a hygiene-first standard on one fixed monthly contract.

What does salon and spa cleaning cover?

The specification covers treatment and therapy rooms, wash and colour stations, wet areas (showers, steam rooms, pool surrounds and changing rooms), reception and retail display, reflective surfaces and mirrors, and washrooms. Hair, wax, product residue and constant moisture are the recurring challenges, alongside the disinfection standard clients expect around skin and nail services.

Why is hygiene and infection control so important here?

Treatments involve skin, nails and sometimes broken skin, so surfaces, wet areas and shared facilities must be properly disinfected between clients and deep-cleaned regularly. We use colour-coded equipment (BICSc) to keep treatment, washroom and general cloths separate, and manage disinfectants under COSHH. Where a salon processes its own linen, the healthcare laundry standard BS EN 14065 sets the biocontamination-control benchmark.

Managing wet areas, steam rooms and pools

Spa wet zones - showers, steam rooms, changing areas and pool surrounds - are warm, humid breeding grounds for mould and bacteria if not cleaned rigorously. We deep-clean and disinfect these areas on a defined frequency, manage limescale and grout, and keep floors slip-safe, which matters given slips are around 30% of reported workplace injuries (HSE).

Front-of-house, mirrors and the client experience

Mirrors, glass and reflective surfaces show every mark, and hair debris accumulates fast at styling stations. We keep front-of-house immaculate - smear-free mirrors and glazing, swept and mopped floors, sanitised stations and a fresh, well-stocked washroom - cleaned before opening or after close. Every OptusGlean operative is directly employed on PAYE and vetted before their first shift. We DBS-check operatives in England and Wales, and apply the equivalent PVG (Disclosure Scotland) and AccessNI checks in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Where a site involves regulated activity with children or vulnerable adults, an Enhanced DBS (currently £49.50, gov.uk) is used. We never sub-contract to unvetted labour.

Fixed monthly pricing for salons and spa groups

OptusGlean prices every contract as a single fixed monthly fee paid by Direct Debit - never an hourly rate that drifts. The fee is built from the specification agreed at your free site survey, and it already accounts for the wage floor (National Living Wage £12.71/hr from April 2026, or the real Living Wage of £13.45 UK / £14.80 London where a contract requires it), employer’s NI, holiday pay, supervision, consumables, insurance and management. VAT is added at the standard 20%. Salon chains and spa groups get one nationwide agreement with a consistent hygiene standard across every location.
