Manufacturers need cleaning that respects a working production environment: swept and scrubbed production floors, tidy machinery surrounds, controlled swarf, oil and coolant residues, and clean offices and welfare for the workforce. Good housekeeping supports 5S, safety and ISO 14001. OptusGlean cleans around your shifts and shutdowns on one fixed monthly contract, nationwide.

What does manufacturing and factory cleaning cover?

The scope covers production and assembly floors, gangways and MHE routes, machinery surrounds and the immediate work area (we clean around plant, not the machines’ internal operation), swarf, oil and coolant residue management, high-level dust on steelwork and extraction, and the offices, canteen, changing rooms and washrooms. This is your premises as a manufacturer - see deep cleaning for periodic shutdown detail.

How does cleaning support 5S and good housekeeping?

Housekeeping is a pillar of 5S and lean manufacturing - a clean, ordered floor is safer, more efficient and audit-ready. Regular floor scrubbing, swarf and spill control and high-level dust removal keep the shop floor to standard between production runs, supporting ISO 14001 environmental housekeeping and reducing slip and fire-load risks.

Managing swarf, oil, coolant and COSHH substances

Metalworking and process residues - swarf, oils, coolants and dust - need proper handling. We manage cleaning chemicals and contaminated waste under COSHH with correct PPE and storage (an SDS informs, but is not, a risk assessment - HSE), and control slip hazards on oily floors, given slips and trips are around 30% of reported workplace injuries.

Shutdown deep cleans and high-level dust

Some work can only happen when the line stops. We schedule intensive deep cleans and high-level dusting into planned shutdowns and maintenance windows, clearing accumulated dust from steelwork, gantries and extraction that is both a housekeeping and a fire-risk issue - under the Work at Height Regulations. Every OptusGlean operative is directly employed on PAYE and vetted before their first shift. We DBS-check operatives in England and Wales, and apply the equivalent PVG (Disclosure Scotland) and AccessNI checks in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Where a site involves regulated activity with children or vulnerable adults, an Enhanced DBS (currently £49.50, gov.uk) is used. We never sub-contract to unvetted labour.

Fixed monthly pricing for manufacturers and groups

OptusGlean prices every contract as a single fixed monthly fee paid by Direct Debit - never an hourly rate that drifts. The fee is built from the specification agreed at your free site survey, and it already accounts for the wage floor (National Living Wage £12.71/hr from April 2026, or the real Living Wage of £13.45 UK / £14.80 London where a contract requires it), employer’s NI, holiday pay, supervision, consumables, insurance and management. VAT is added at the standard 20%. Manufacturers with multiple plants get one nationwide agreement with a consistent housekeeping standard and single account management across every site.
