Flood and water-damage cleaning is the extraction, drying, cleaning and sanitising of a property after flooding, a burst pipe, or a major leak — before secondary damage like mould, odour and structural harm sets in. Speed matters: the first 24-48 hours decide how much can be saved. Optus Glean UK responds rapidly across the UK, fully insured.
What we do after water damage
We remove standing water and extract moisture, strip out unsalvageable soaked materials, clean and disinfect all affected surfaces (flood water is frequently contaminated), and set up structural drying with dehumidifiers and air movers monitored to moisture readings.
We finish with sanitising and odour treatment, and flag areas at risk of mould so they can be treated before they become a bigger problem.
Why speed matters
Water spreads and wicks into structure, plaster and contents quickly, and mould can begin to develop within 24-48 hours. Fast extraction and drying limits secondary damage, saves more of the building and contents, and shortens the time premises are out of use.
Category-aware and contamination-safe
Not all water is equal: clean supply-pipe water is very different from ground-flood or sewage water, which carries contamination. We treat contaminated water damage as a biohazard, using the right disinfection and PPE and working to a COSHH assessment, and dispose of contaminated waste responsibly.
Insurance-ready documentation
We record moisture readings, photograph the damage and the works, and provide itemised documentation suited to a buildings or business-interruption insurance claim. We can liaise with loss adjusters and coordinate with your restoration or building contractors.
