Mould remediation is the removal of mould growth and, crucially, the correction of the moisture problem causing it — because cleaning the stain without fixing the damp just delays its return. It matters for health and, in housing, for legal compliance. Optus Glean UK remediates mould in commercial, healthcare and residential premises across the UK, fully insured.
Find the cause, not just the mould
Mould is a symptom of excess moisture — condensation, a leak, rising or penetrating damp, or poor ventilation. We assess the affected areas, identify the likely moisture source, and advise on what needs to change so the mould does not simply grow back after cleaning.
Safe removal and treatment
We remove mould growth using appropriate biocidal treatments, clean and decontaminate affected surfaces and contents, and treat porous materials or flag them for replacement where cleaning will not fully resolve them.
Operatives use suitable PPE and RPE and work to a COSHH assessment, because disturbing mould releases spores. Affected waste is bagged and removed responsibly.
Prevention that lasts
After remediation we advise on preventing recurrence — improving ventilation, addressing condensation, and resolving the underlying leak or damp. For landlords and housing providers we can put a monitored, repeatable programme in place across a portfolio.
Housing, healthcare and workplaces
Mould is a health issue and, for social and private landlords, increasingly a compliance issue. We work for housing providers, healthcare and care settings (where it is treated to infection-control expectations), offices, schools and industrial premises — as a nationwide contractor able to cover a whole estate under one arrangement.
